Noisy Weekend

It's been a very, very noisy weekend here. The fifth of November is celebrated here as Guy Fawkes or Bonfire Night but since the fifth is a Monday this year, most people have been having their firework parties this weekend. This means lots and lots and lots of loud banging noises; very scary for cats and dogs. I don't like the bangs but I stay indoors with the television turned on to drown them out and I am quite laid-back about it, but some other kitties get very scared. If you look out of our upstairs windows tonight you can see bangs and flashes and fireworks going off all over London, as far as the eye can see. I will be glad when all the bangs and flashes are finished!

If you don't know who Guy Fawkes was and why we have fireworks on November 5th, you can find out here. And here is a rhyme about him:

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
Gunpowder, Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parliament.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

Comments:
I do not like fireworks, either. I usually hide under the bed. I am glad that you are not too upset by them, Eric.

I like watching the flashes but I don't like the bangs. Flynn hides away.To make fings worse, we wuz home alone, but the Beans are back now, and we fink they haf got a new furrend who we haven't seen yet. He's called Mr. J Lag.
We're glad they're back again though.

That is a lot of fireworks, Fat Eric. That would freak me out, too. I hope you can get some rest tonight.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe

Lots of fireworks! It is beautiful!

Happy Guy Fawkes Day--I'm sorry you had to endure scary fireworks. They're fun to look at but terrible to have to listen to!

I would be hiding under the bed if they were doing fireworks here! I'm glad that you are OK with them.

Purrrrrs, Willow

Happy Guy Fawkes Day, Eric. I'm sorry about all the loud bangs. The picture is beautiful, though.

Why do the beans need those loud noises to celebrate? That Guy guy sounds like a very bad person! I'm glad he was caught!

I am like you Eric, loud things are not too bad, but a few of my siblings go right under the bed! I hope you had a lovely weekend! We were in snuggle and bake mode. We like that!

Like Independence Day here, it's loud and scary!
Scout isn't scared of fireworks though. He came here to our home on Independence Day and he thinks its normal.

We hate 4th of July here, we hide under the bed all night. It was before our time, but our Mom and Dad were in London for Bonfire Night when the went on their Honeymoon long ago.

Dearest Fat Eric, bless you. Your chocolate package arrived today and MomBean has been sitting in a dazed glee since. SHe might be sane for a day now...

You're a very brave cat to be laid back during this celebration. Our cats hate any kind of loud noise, but especially fireworks.

I detest firework night. It's been going crazy here today and I HATE it!

x

Horrrible sounds! You poor things!

Mom says that sounds like a cool holiday, but I cower in horror. I HATE loud noises like thunder and fireworks. Hope you survive!

~Jake

I don't like lots of Holidays either, it's almost new year.
And my nightmare will be begin in a short time~

We do not lke fireworks either. The sound always makes Captain Jack nervous because he thinks we are under attack from another pirate ship.

Fireworks noises are ok, as long as there are lots and lots of lights and colours to catch, heh....

Thanks for the purrz and I made sure to lick mommy on the ear for you...we're sorry about Hattie, and mommy says it's true, you always remember your angel kitties all the time. She said that your purrz did make her feel better during this tough time.

Oh yes yes...
I heard the producer (who is British) on Dancing with the Stars mention this last night.
Fat Eric...come visit when you can. I think we may have started a wonderful new Tuesday Tradition...Tattle Tail Tuesday. Start taking notes and shooting photos now.
NOT that your Mum or Dad EVER do anything that would be tattle-worthy, of course.
Wink wink nod nod.

Oh we wanted to wish a Belated Happy Gotcha day and Purrrthday Fat ERic, we are always behind it seems wif that stuff from the FLuffy Tribe

Holidays and loud noices always seem to be a problem for the ears, etc. A good hiding place in what you need on days like that.
