Adventures With Milo And Alfie!

Something very exciting happened today. I showed pictures a few posts ago of the lovely Secret Paws presents I got from Everycat. My Secret Paw to give presents to was Milo. As you know I am staying with my Devon Grandma at the moment. It just so happens that Milo and Alfie only live about 20 minutes' drive away from Devon Grandma's house, so my mum thought that maybe it would be fun to hand-deliver the Secret Paws presents. So today my humans went to give the presents to Milo and Alfie. I would have liked to go with them but I had to stay here and take care of my Devon Grandma, who had a little accident this morning. (She asked my dad to go up in the loft and get down some boxes and suitcases which were up there and one of the suitcases fell down the loft ladder when Devon Grandma was underneath and hit her on the head but don't worry, she is OK now, although dad still feels very guilty!)

Anyway, mum and dad went and met Milo and Alfie and their mum and dad and they had a very nice time. (Milo, don't be offended or anything but mum is still squee-ing about what a cute kitten Alfie is, but she thought you were furry cute too). Milo's mum has already put some pictures up on their website of them opening their Secret Paws presents and you can see them here if you like! My mum took some photos too and took some video on her new camera of Milo playing with his new feather toy but we can't post any photos till we get back to our computer in London.

I had a good sniff of my humans when they got back here because I could smell Milo and Alfie on them. My mum says I am about 10 times bigger than Alfie but Milo and Alfie can run and jump a lot faster than me! Thanks for playing with my mum and dad and keeping them amused, Milo and Alfie! I really hope you enjoy playing with your Secret Paws goodies!

Sleepy Saturday

I'm still here at Devon Grandma's house. Not much to report. I get up in the morning and go and jump on my humans' bed and then they get up and feed me and then I go back to sleep. I have been spending many hours sleeping in the cosy spot behind the radiator or sleeping on mum's lap or watching TV. There are lots of birdies to watch out of the windows here too. And Devon Grandma is quite an easy person to get tit-bits from. Yesterday she was eating a turkey sandwich and I was sitting right by her giving her the Hard Stare and following the sandwich with my eyes. She soon caved in and gave me some turkey!

We opened some parcels from Uncle Sim in Mericky and I got some more Greenies, so that was good!

I have been trying to get round and visit my friends' blogs but the internet connection we have here is not very good and I've been finding it hard to leave comments because the pages keep timing out or freezing up. Hope my friends don't feel like I'm ignoring them! I can just about manage to do a post on here but can't do pictures. But my mum got a new toy from Santa Claus - a little video camera, so she has been chasing me around with that! Hopefully once we are back in London with our own computer she will be able to figure out how to upload some of her videos and then you might get to see me in action!

Happy Christmas!

Well, I made it down to Devon Grandma's house (apparently I was a VERY good quiet boy in the car because I slept most of the way). I have taken over the sofa and the cosy spot behind the sofa and next to the radiator, which I remembered from last year and the year before.

Just after I arrived after my traumatic journey I had a further traumatic experience. After arriving and having some dinner I needed to visit my litterbox. My litterbox is covered and has a swing door at the entrance. Unfortunately while it was being loaded and unloaded from the car, the hinge on the door of my litterbox must have got a bit damaged, and do you know what happened? When I used the box and went to leave afterwards, I couldn't get out! The door was jammed shut and I was trapped inside! My mum heard me banging on the inside of the door and went to investigate and she couldn't unjam the door so she had to take the whole roof off the litterbox and I shot out looking very indignant. She had to give me lots of treats to make up for that! The litterbox door has now been fixed although I was very cautious the next time I went to use it!

It has been quite a grey and misty Christmas Eve here. I've spent a lot of time sleeping on mum's lap and sniffing around Devon Grandma's house. My mum can't get a very reliable internet connection here, but we've managed to get online tonight so I can say Happy Christmas to all my friends! Hope everyone has a great day!

Secret Paws!

Yes, as I mentioned in my last post, a package came for me from my Secret Paw and my mum said I could open it! Here I am waiting impatiently for her to open it:
My Secret Paws package came from Everycat! And there were lots of gifts all wrapped up and with messages from Whicky Wuudler, Oliver, Gerry and Angel and their humans!
Plus an envelope addressed to Fat Eric, esquire! Inside was a beautiful handmade card with a picture of Whicky on it.
Everycat sent me loads of goodies! I got a nip carrot, blue fev-vers on a stick, Temptations, tins of gourmet food - even chocolate for my humans!
Here I am rubbing my face on the nip carrot...
...but my favourite thing so far is the blue fev-vers, I have been attacking them a lot.
A BIG THANK YOU TO MY SECRET PAWS, THE CATS AT EVERYCAT!

Now, rumour has it that tomorrow I will be tossed into the Evil Cat Carrier and we will be off to spend Christmas with Devon Grandma. You may remember that I have been on long Christmas travelling adventures before, as described here and here. My mum is hoping we will still be able to blog from Devon but we only have a wireless connection there now which is not very reliable so, just in case I can't get in touch from there, I'll wish all my friends in the Cat Blogosphere a very Happy Christmas! Wish me luck on my travels tomorrow!

Saturday Caturday

Look what I got from that nice Ann, Maggy and Zoey at Zoolatry...a Christmas card with a picture of me on it! They are so clever.

My mum finished school for Christmas yesterday. She got a lot of presents from her class but no Greenies or Temptations unfortunately, mostly chocolate and scented candles!

But...the postman just knocked on the door with a big parcel for ME! Maybe it is from my Secret Paw! I hope mum helps me open it soon! What can it be? Stay tuned...

Twins!

I have got lots of Christmas cards from my friends. One of them was from Millie. Millie's card has a flower on it. My mum says it is an amaryllis. She put the card on the mantelpiece next to a real amaryllis she is growing in a pot. Now the real amaryllis has flowered...and look! It is just like the one on Millie's card! They are twins! Cool!
P.S. My mum's school breaks up for Christmas holidays tomorrow...yay!

Funny On Sunday

I have been worried about my sick kitty friends lately. And the weather has been bad. And this morning I caught my mum red-handed giving treats to that little black Evil Intruder Kitty who hangs round in my garden and calls himself Marmite. And when I walked up to him and said "Hey buster, get out of my garden RIGHT NOW!" do you know what he did? Did he run away in terror? No! He purred at me and went back to eating MY Temptations! Pah! I was forced to headbutt him away from the Temptations and eat the rest of them myself! That little pest is making himself just too comfortable round here.

With all this stressful stuff going on, I needed a good laugh today. And I got one. Go and visit Bogdan over at the Morning Scratch and see this post if you want a good laugh too!

Check Up

I should have remembered that every December there comes a day when I get thrown in the Evil Cat Carrier and whisked off to the v-e-t to be stabbed in the back of the neck. My humans pretend they are doing this for my own good (something about "booster injections") but really it is just so they have my vaccination card up to date which means they will be allowed to dump me in the kitty jail next summer holidays.

Anyway, yesterday evening I was snoozing peacefully in my fleece bed next to the radiator when I was grabbed and thrust into the Evil Cat Carrier. The next minute I was outside in the freezing cold and dark being loaded in the car. I did a lot of meowing out of concern that we might, in fact, be off to the Kitty Jail or even on some mammoth drive to Devon Grandma's, but five minutes later we stopped outside the v-e-t's surgery. For once there was no one else in the waiting room, not even any annoying woofies, so I was soon on the v-e-t's table shedding huge clouds of orange floof all over him, heh heh. It was the Loud Australian V-e-t again whose loud voice makes me try to get back in the Evil Cat Carrier. He checked me all over and looked in my eyes and ears and listened to my heart and said they were all in excellent shape for my age. He weighed me and I have lost a little more weight - now I only weigh 17 and a half pounds, down from 18 pounds in August. Five years ago I was over 21 pounds! The v-e-t says there is not much flab on me now but I am worried about not being able to called myself Fat Eric any more! I don't want to end up as Skinny Eric!

The Loud Australian V-e-t was very pleased that my diabetes is still in remission after 15 months. He said my mum obviously did the right thing taking me off the dry food and putting me on the low-carb canned food. She is still checking my blood sugar regularly (we broke the glucometer the other day but have got a new one). The v-e-t said the only thing about me that wasn't perfect was the tartar stuff on my teeth but it's not bad enough for him to make me sleep so he can clean it off. Then he did the stabby thing in the back of my neck.

So, on the whole, I got a very good report on my health. Then I was taken home and given Greenies to get over the trauma.

Happier Times

I do NOT like the weather lately. Cold. Wind. Sleet. Rain. Ice. I have been sitting on my humans a lot so that we can share our body heat and keep warm.

I am posting this picture from last summer to remind me of those far-off days when it was actually warm and sunny.

Sigh.

Mancat Monday And Misty

I haven't been able to get to the computer all weekend. Firstly, it was cold, I mean COLD! So I have spent a long time napping in my fleece bed next to the radiator just to keep warm. Secondly, my mum has been hogging the computer doing boring admin stuff for school - they are having a new website with lots of password-protected areas and she says it is much too complicated to administer. I found out the only way I could get more attention from her was to snoopervise her computer activities very closely.
To make myself more comfortable I had to push the keyboard out of the way but I'm sure she didn't mind...
The good news for me is that this morning the heating system broke down at my mum's school. It got so cold they had to send all the children home and the school is closed tomorrow as well while the heating is fixed. So it looks like I get a bonus snuggling-with-mum day!

Meanwhile, I am sending many purrs to little Misty, who is hopefully recovering now after giving us all such a scare this weekend when she was rushed to the v-e-t. Get well soon Misty!
P.S. It's a strange thing but when my mum and I started working on the computer yesterday there were all these bits of black floof lying around. I can't account for it...
