Washing On Wednesday

My floofy white and ginger fur doesn't stay all clean and floofy without a lot of hard work, you know.
First the paws...
Then the shoulders...
Then the stomach...
No, you can't photograph me washing my lower half! Go away!

Sleepy Saturday

I am having a lazy day today with lots of naps because I am tired after my party last night. I had a great time and I am glad that so many of my friends were able to join me. I would like to thank everyone for coming. My mum is clearing up the house and I think I will have another little nap...zzzzzz...

Party Time!

Woohoo! Welcome to my 12th Purrthday and 4th Gotcha Day party!

We are all ready here in London. Notice the tasteful decorations throughout the house. The living-room is plentifully supplied with cushions, sofas, comfy chairs and rugs for my guests. You can see my Gizzy quilt in the large cat bed. You will find very comfortable beds upstairs and also my yellow chair which makes a lovely napping spot. You are welcome to use my private bathroom, that's the large covered litter box in the hall cupboard, but my mum has put several extra litter boxes upstairs in the human bathroom.

There is lots of food laid out on the buffet - we have a seafood selection with lots of salmon and tuna, also plenty of chicken, turkey and ham and many different flavours of stinky goodness. There are some crunchies for my guests (although I am not allowed to eat those) and lots of Temptations. We have also put out some examples of our British specialities like fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, and, as we are in East London, a dish of jellied eels.

It's rather dark outside but any cat who wants to explore the garden and look for frogs in the pond is welcome.

Please leave your name in the comments to add yourself to the guest register, and then head on over to the party. (Chatzy link removed as party is now over)

*UPDATE* It's a great party, but it's very late now London time, so I am off to bed. Feel free to keep enjoying the party though, and thanks for coming!

It's My Purrthday!

Yay! It is my Gotcha Day (4 years since I came to live here) and also my official 12th Purrthday. Do you think I qualify as a Geezer Kitty now that I am 12? I woke up my humans extra-early so that we could start celebrating. So far I have had the following purrthday presents:

From my mum:
- Two tins of Gourmet Tuna Flakes with Shrimp in Jelly
- One tub of Temptations (chicken and cheese flavour)
- One mousie with a string that your human pulls out and the mousie scoots across the floor wibbling

From my dad:
- One yellow ball to play with (he says it is a "stress ball" but I am not stressed)
- One tin of tuna steak in springwater

From English Daisy's mum and dad (they visited me yesterday):
- One new feather toy
- Some catnip teabags which my mum is going to put inside some of my old catnip toys to refresh them.

And here's one of the special purrthday pictures Zoolatry created for me:
I am having a great purrthday so far, and I am looking forward to my party tonight! I will be putting the party post up later with the Chatzy link because my party does not start until 10pm London time (5pm eastern Mericky time). See you later!

Wacky Wednesday

You remember my yellow submarine cushion I like to sleep next to?

It inspired those talented cats at Zoolatry to make something else...
Only 2 more days until my purrthday party! I need to go and help my mum with the decorating. You wouldn't believe how much stinky goodness and lovely food we have ready for the party. And the other day my mum and dad came home with a giant sack of kitty litter. My mum smelt of kittens. My dad told me that in the place where they bought the kitty litter, there were some brown stripy tiger kittens playing with my mum and acting cute. My dad says he had to drag her away to stop her from bringing those kittens home. I do NOT want a kitten for a purrthday present, OK? I hope she knows that!

Mancat Monday

Those talented cats at Zoolatry have been doing some amazing pictures of ME!

I am saving some of the pictures for later (they have done some special purrthday pictures for me, which is very kind). However, here are two of the pictures. Aren't they clever?

P.S. If you missed your invitation to my PURRTHDAY PARTY, click here!

Party Invitation!

I'm having a party! I am very excited as I have never been allowed to hold a party before.

Friday, 26th October will be my Gotcha Day and my official 12th Purrthday. It will be exactly 4 years since I arrived at my forever home, and, as we do not know my real purrthday, it is my official purrthday too.

The party will be held on Chatzy and I will be putting up a post with the Chatzy link when the party starts.

The party will start at 10pm British Summer Time, which I think is about 5pm on the east coast of Mericky and a bit earlier in the rest of Mericky. I know it is a long way to London for my Mericky friends but I hope lots of you will be able to make it!

Now, I must go and make some lists so my mum knows what to get for the party...

Tasty Thursday

Today I am happy.

For one reason, there is only one more day before my mum gets a whole week off school. She is not going away for a change but is planning to spend a week being lazy and making a fuss of me!

For another reason, my mum has been very stressed out lately after the Museum Incident last week. She was stressing out more because she had some important meetings this week, but now those are all over and everything went the way she was hoping, so she is much more relaxed now. She was really tired last night so she went to bed early. I snuggled up with her and we had a really good nap.

To celebrate things getting better, I have a picture for you. Warning: You may faint when you see the wonder of this picture.

Remember I am on a special diabetic diet of low-carb, low-sugar but strangely delicious stinky goodness? Well, look, here is my food cupboard!

Tons and tons of stinky goodness, and it's ALL FOR ME!!!

Yum.

Mews On Monday

There have been a lot of cat stories mentioned in the mews (news) here lately, so I have been collecting them.

First, I have an update on a story I posted about 10 days ago. This was about the 147 cats rescued from the site where they are building the Olympic Park for London 2012. You will be glad to hear that about 50 of those cats have already found forever homes and hopefully the rest will find good homes soon.

Secondly, here is a story about some very very lucky cats who live in a palace in Russia! They look pretty contented and they even have their own press secretary and human staff who cater to their every whim.

Next, here is a story about a place in the north of England called Bradford. For some reason, the RSPCA in Bradford is suddenly being swamped with homeless cats needing forever homes. So, if you know anyone who lives in that area, tell them to go and adopt some of those kitties!

Also, here is an interesting story about a Gorgeous Ginger cat called Chico who belonged to the Pope, the head of the Roman Catholic Church. He is so clever he has written a book about his life with the Pope. Apparently the Pope is famous for his love of cats, so he must be a good person.

Finally, some exciting mews is that my good friend Derby has given me this award! Thank you, Derby! I would like to pass on this award to three great cat blogs: (I apologise if I tag someone who has already been given the award by someone else, but I have kind of lost track):

Eric and Flynn - my fabulous ginger fellow-Brits.

Meowers from Missouri - Ed is my friend because he is floofy and rotund just like me.

Caturday - Harper and Ramona always have such beautiful stories and pictures on their blog.

Such a lot of mews to share today - I do have some more exciting mews but will save that for next time - let's just say that if you check my post for October 26th last year you will find out why I am getting excited!

Evil Intruder Kitty

My mum and I would like to thank all our friends for sending purrs and good wishes after the Bad Day my mum had. She is feeling better and we are enjoying a long weekend together. Yesterday (Friday) my mum had a day off work and she was surprised when I showed her how much action goes on in our back garden when she is not here in the daytime. Birds twittering all day, squirrels bouncing about, frogs croaking in the pond...it's a wonder I manage to get my naps in with all the noise from the garden.

We also have a new Intruder Kitty who has recently started hanging out in our garden. He has just come to live with one of our neighbours. Now, although he is ginger like me, I resent the fact that he is making himself at home in our garden. Just the other day he stuck his head in the open patio doors and tried to come in the house! And here he is sitting in one of MY favourite spots. What a nerve.
I am going to nag my mum this weekend to update the Gorgeous Gingers site because some of my friends are waiting to have their pictures added. I will make sure it gets done. But first I must go to Jack's party!

Bad Day

My mum had a bad day today. I can't tell you the details but let's just say an emergency situation happened while she was on a museum visit with her class, which led to the visit being cut short and a lot of stress for everyone involved, especially my mum. Although her headteacher took her out for a drink afterwards and said that she did exactly the right thing in the emergency situation, it was still one of the worst experiences she has had in 15 years of teaching and she was pretty shaken up. I could sense she was upset when she got home so I have been doing a lot of snuggling and purring on her to make her feel better. She says there is nothing like cuddling a floofy cat to make her feel less stressed. Now she just has to survive tomorrow and then school is closed for a long weekend on Friday (because it is Eid) so we will be able to have a rest together. Please send purrs, it was a really bad day!

Desktop Meme

Eric and Flynn tagged me for the desktop meme. This is what our desktop looks like at the moment. My mum likes to have her icons quite big so she can see them easily. She needs to tidy them up though! She changes the picture every few months. Sadly the current one is not a picture of handsome me, it is a picture she took in Derbyshire on holiday this summer, one evening when dusk was falling and she thought the light and the row of trees were really pretty. You can see some Derbyshire sheep too. You can see there is a link to "Shared Pictures", that leads to a folder full of pictures of me!

That is the desktop when my mum is logged in to this computer, but if my dad is logged in, it has a different picture and looks like this:

He usually switches between pictures of cars he photographs at classic car shows. I think it is time he had a picture of me there!

Here's what you do:
1) Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. Here’s how to do it: Go to your desktop and press the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key). 2.Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and doing a Paste (CTRL + V). If you wish, you can “edit” the image before saving it. (If you have a Mac, it's different. You just open the Screenshot programme and click on photo and that's it!)
3.Post the picture on your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop if you want. You can explain why you prefer such a look or why it is full of icons. Things like that.
4.Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktops as well. I am not tagging anyone because most cats have done this already, but if you haven't, consider yourself tagged!
5.Add your name to the list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants.
Others who have played: Francine of La Place de Cherie Chez Francine, Bloggishi, Unchained Melody, LadyJava’s Lounge, Mariuca, Revellian, Dot ComDesktop, Emila’s Illustrated Blog, Spiff, The Spaceman, Rolando, Brown Baron, The Kat House, MAX Mother's Home!, I Was Born2Cree8, Skittles' Place, Faz the Cat, Yoggie,Jimmy Joe, Kellie the Orange cat,Black Cat, Eric and Flynn and Bonnie and Victor.

P.S. My mum says wish her luck, she is taking her "difficult" class on a visit to the British Museum Egyptian galleries tomorrow and she just hopes they don't break anything valuable!

Another Easy Sunday

My dad and I have been fighting a territory war over this spot on the sofa recently. So far I am winning.

Do you like my mum's Yellow Submarine cushion?

P.S. Notice that my silly humans bought a dark-blue sofa and then had to cover it in a cream throw in an attempt to minimise the effect of floofy Eric hair on it!)

We Are Worried

We saw a worrying article in tonight's evening paper (The London Evening Standard in case you are interested). Just a few miles from our house, lots of workmen are working on the site where the 2012 London Olympic Games are going to be held. Apparently there are lots of feral cats living on the building site and cat rescuers have been going there trying to rescue as many as they can, but it looks like they are running out of time...

You can read the story and see pictures of the cats here - I hope those kitties are all saved OK, keep your paws crossed for them!
