Finally it's the weekend. I am tired. My humans are tired. The forecast is for a cold weekend with maybe even some snow. We are planning to sleep a lot. Now all I have to do is select the most comfortable napping spot. Have a good weekend everyone!
I can hardly believe it, but according to the counter at the bottom of my sidebar, today is my third Blogoversary! Yes, it is three whole years since my very first post on January 24th 2006. A lot of blogging has been done since then - and I feel as though I have met a LOT of good blogging friends along the way!
Here, in honour of my third blogoversary, are some pictures from the past and present...
I don't think I look a day older, do you? Although I may be a bit slimmer, since I see from my first post that I weighed 22 lb back then, and now I only weigh 17 and a half lb.
I was going to show pictures of the food for my Blogoversary guests, but mum woke up this morning with a bit of a stomach upset (given to her by those germy children she teaches), and she has been running to the bathroom all day. She said if she had to help me post pictures of yummy food she would throw up again (too much information, mum!), so please feel free to use your imagination. Let's party! (but quietly, avoiding the room where mum lies groaning on the sofa). Here's to more blogging fun in the future!
I have just been giving my mum a good telling-off. Do you realise that she hasn't helped me to blog for a WHOLE WEEK? It's disgraceful! She's always making excuses about being too tired or too busy! Although I suppose she does have a point that I haven't done much blogworthy in the last week, except for eating and sleeping. But it's been mostly rainy outside, so eating and sleeping have seemed like the best things to do.
As you know, I have a lot of floof. And it takes a lot of work to keep all that floof looking good. So here is a video to show you how I like to be combed. Actually it was quite hard for my mum to comb me with one hand and use the video camera with her other hand. Usually it takes two hands for the grooming, and I have two different combs, a brush and a Zoom Groom. But this video will give you some idea of what happens. You will notice I always purr when I am being groomed because I really enjoy the attention. Sometimes when she has finished combing me on one side, I roll over so that she can do the other side. Like I said, it takes a lot of work to maintain all my floof!
DID YOU MISS ME, MARMITE FANS? DO YOU KNOW THE FAT GINGER CAT AND HIS HUMANS WENT AWAY FOR CHRISTMAS AND ABANDONED ME? I HAD TO SPEND MORE TIME AT MY OWN HOUSE, WHERE THE STINKY GOODNESS IS MUCH LESS GOURMET AND THERE ARE NO TEMPTATIONS! I WAS VERY GLAD WHEN THE FAT GINGER CAT'S HUMANS CAME BACK AND I COULD START VISITING THEM AGAIN! ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN VERY COLD LATELY SO I HAVE BEEN STAYING INDOORS MORE!
THE FAT GINGER CAT THINKS HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS TO STAR IN VIDEOS, WELL HE IS WRONG! IF ANYONE IS GOING TO BE A FILM STAR, I THINK IT SHOULD BE ME!
Well, my humans were so busy enjoying themselves over Christmas at Devon Grandma's - eating, drinking, visiting Milo and Alfie, etc - that they didn't take nearly enough pictures of handsome me. And, to be fair, I did spend a lot of time sleeping behind Devon Grandma's sofa, which made it harder for them to photograph me.
Here is a picture of me relaxing on Devon Grandma's sofa. You can tell how stressed out I am about being taken on holiday many miles from my own home...
And here is one of the first videos my mum made of me, after she got given her video camera for Christmas. Here I am in another room at Devon Grandma's house, just relaxing with my mum and enjoying a bit of one-to-one attention. My mum likes this video very much because she says it shows me very well, but she would just like to ask you to ignore Devon Grandma's laundry hanging up in the background because she would not like to embarrass Devon Grandma... I hope you enjoy this video - if you turn your volume up again I believe it features more purring!
I have mostly been lying around sleeping since the New Year arrived. My humans have been busier. They went out for a healthy walk in the countryside yesterday to work off some of the Christmas over-eating - that was much too cold for me, I stayed in and laughed through the window at an Evil Intruder Cat trying to drink from my pond and finding out it was frozen. Tomorrow my mum goes back to school and will probably be very busy taming those children again, so I thought I'd better get her to help me post some of the backlog of pictures from Christmas first.
As you know, while we were in Devon staying with Devon Grandma last week I made my humans go to visit Milo and Alfie and hand over their Secret Paws presents from me. Milo and Alfie already put some pictures of the visit on their page. Here are some pictures my mum took while she was meeting Milo and Alfie.
Milo and Alfie opening their Secret Paws presents:
Milo on his den:
Alfie playing with his trackball toy he already had:
Alfie being brave and sitting on Milo's den (my mum goes Squee whenever she looks at this picture for some reason):
And here is a video she took of Milo playing with the feather toy I gave him (that's my mum's arm waving the feathers):
Looks like everyone was having a good time! Next, I'll put up some more video of ME from Christmas!
Fat Eric was an enormous, long-haired, ginger-and-white cat, 1995-2010. He was adopted by his human servants in 2003. His sister Hattie sadly died in 2004 but he adapted VERY quickly to being a Spoilt Only Cat. In August 2007 he was diagnosed with feline diabetes but it was soon diet-controlled. He went to the Rainbow Bridge in August 2010 and is very much missed.
